I often get asked by people why I’m so active on LinkedIn, when ask it seems that they don’t see the value as mostly because very few things they post get a reaction.

What’s the point of posting things on LinkedIn?

According to research carried out by Forrester for the top brands on LinkedIn, the average engagement rate is 0.054%. In other words, for every 2,000 views of a post, by say Coca Cola, only one person gives a ‘like’ or a ‘share’ or a comment.

This will be better for people who know you but even then, some people get quite a lot of reaction whilst others never get a bean.

But here’s the interesting thing

Just because people don’t react, doesn’t mean they don’t read/watch/listen to what you post. They do.

The other day I bumped into the head of marketing of a 9-figure household name company and she commented on a post I’d made a few days before. She’d read it and remembered it!

So, my key message is this: keep posting – people are reading what you put out there even if they don’t react to it.
