'Business Development For Busy People'
Whether you are beginning a new change programme or faced with a business problem or opportunity it is vital to get buy-in from the key stakeholders as well as maximise their creative input.
Typical issues with initial brainstorm sessions are:
Unprepared attendees. No clear idea of what is required of them. Many seeing the day as the programme itself without realising it is only the first step. The sponsor finding it difficult to contribute to the discussion and run the session.A great day had by all but the initiative peters out very quickly resulting in little effect.
We agree the overall objectives of both the session and the programme with the sponsor.
We identify the 10 key points of the subject and compile a questionnaire with a priority, status and comments box for each one. All replied are treated in the strictest confidence.
We distribute, collect and analyse the questionnaires to produce a feedback summary.
The day begins by stating the agreed objectives. We then use the feedback summary as a suggested agenda which provides a sound structure for the day.
At closure we agree which initiatives are going to be initiated and who is going to own them. these owners then become the change team responsible for implementing the key actions from the day.
Finally we set aside between 3 and 6 bi-weekly meetings for the change team to move the programme forward. Other stakeholders are encouraged to attend as both observers and contributers.
If required we also offer ongoing 1-2-1 or group support for the change team during this time.
The Flair Discovery Day format provides an excellent way to begin and then carry through to conclusion, your change programmes and brainstorming sessions.
"A really well designed session with a newly formed Team which was stimulated by good preparation through a thought provoking Questionnaire/Audit.
Mike's natural style ensured a feeling of inclusiveness whilst still driving towards tangible actions as takeaways.
I believe this session will create a base for us to develop further as a team and am sure we will look back on this workshop as a pivotal moment."
